Hello and welcome to the Pomegranate Blog!
As this is the first post on the Pomegranate blog, I should probably start by introducing myself. My name is Nicole and I am the proud owner and managing director of Pomegranate Living with Style, an online boutique specialising in design-led premium items for the home.
I am thrilled that after almost two years of planning, reading, dreaming, writing and more planning, Pomegranate is finally in business. It has been quite a journey but here we are, finally operational, stocked and trading.
The concept for Pomegranate has been slowly taking shape in my mind over the last three or four years. Slowly, it has bloomed from just a bud of an idea to a notepad full of thoughts, ramblings and concepts and finally to a complete and viable business proposal.
It’s been quite an undertaking and one that has demanded determination, stamina, self-belief and a big bold dream. But, really, it all started with a name - Pomegranate. People often ask me how or why I chose this name and it got me thinking, why indeed...? Well, it seems the name has been in my subconscious for some time (I am, after all of Egyptian and Lebanese origin!), but I think it was more visual than that.
On a trip to Spain almost three years ago, not only did the garden of the villa we stayed in have its own little pomegranate orchard, but I was finally able to visit one of the most beautiful and gorgeously detailed architectural marvels (to my mind anyway!) in the world - the Alhambra in Granada. This was one of those visits you cross off your bucket list for me, so it really was a dream come true and it most certainly was not a disappointment.
My first visit to the Alhambra was a dream come true
Well of course, Granada is Spanish for pomegranate isn't it? So in addition to all that amazing architecture, the grounds were covered with the bright, happy colours of pomegranate flowers in bloom, which would grow into the lovely pomegranate fruit of course. I think that's what's did it.

From then on, every time I started thinking about the business, I kept imagining a window display or a little vignette in a corner with a big bowl of fresh, dark red, jewel-like pomegranates. And when the time came to jot down 'serious' ideas for the business name, I kept coming back to it again and again, and so, in the end I simply had to give in.

I knew that the pomegranate fruit had symbolic value for many cultures through history, particularly in the Mediterranean region, but as I researched the name a little further, I learnt that the Ancient Egyptians regarded it as a symbol of prosperity and ambition – well, this seemed rather apt for a new business venture. And so, Pomegranate was born.
Of course, much has happened since the name was finalised. For example, there is no window display or vignette in the corner just yet as the business is an online boutique for now. I will share some more snippets of my journey with you over the next few weeks and you will see how the business has developed but for now, I invite you to look through the website – I do hope you like it!
I just couldn't resist adding this image of these windows with such gorgeous lace-like stonework. Patterns like these would go on to inspire those used in the Pomegranate branding.
I hope you enjoy reading this blog and shopping at Pomegranate Living.
'till next time...
