The two-tone waste paper basket is a simple, yet attractive item woven by hand in Senegal. Its clean lines and contemporary finish makes it easy to integrate into any space and its generous scale means it's super practical too. It can easily be used as a plant pot or general storage basket of course.
Each Artisanne basket is beautifully and traditionally crafted by hand by artisan women in small villages near Thies in Senegal, which has a long history of basket weaving spanning back generations. The attention to detail is meticulous and the designs and patterns are contemporary whilst respecting the traditional weaving style of the region.
Artisanne works directly with the community of Senegalese women to ensure they receive all monies directly, thereby helping them earn a secure and fair income to support themselves, their families and their communities.
As each piece is made by hand, there are slight variations in size, pattern and colour which add to its charm and should be considered a mark of the weaver who made it.
